Concerts, Performances Marked Start of New Academic Year

Sept. 1st, 2014, marking the start of a new 2014-2015 academic year, the Pop Vocal Group, "Skalsa" folk dancers and MRU's Jazz Band performed for students.

The University community celebrated and there were events at the Faculty as well.

In the morning a series of concerts was held at MRU's campus organized by the Cultural Activities Center as part of the "Live University" events. Those participating included MRU's Jazz  Band, the Pop Vocal Ensemble, the dance troupe "Bolero" and folk dancing groups "Skalsa" and "Ritingo.".

Freshman students beginning their studies were invited to a Lectio Prima event, where they had a chance to become more closely acquainted with MRU, order of studies and cultural activities as well as meet with Deans, Vice-Deans, lecturers and students.

Then student representatives gave tours of the University and MRU's campus.

At a Senate meeting to mark the first day of classes new students were welcomed and greeted by MRU Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis.

During the Senate meeting new professors and associate professors were congratulated and those who successfully defended dissertations were singled out. In addition the Best Lecturers of the Year were awarded Certificates of Appreciation.
