The European Commission has just launched EUWIN – (

It has done so because the majority of European businesses are not making use of evidence-based approaches to work organisation, technological innovation and people management that are shown to improve competitiveness and performance in the workplace.

“Workplace innovation” describes a bundle of practices that enable employees at all levels to contribute their full range of knowledge, experience, skills and creativity to the business in return for greater discretion, respect and job satisfaction.

Evidence has been accumulating for more than four decades that such practices bring significant business benefits.Yet many managers are either unaware that they exist or find them difficult to implement.

During the interactive workshop. Prof. Totterdill will explore the business case for workplace innovation and examine the practical implications for enterprises, drawing on successful cases from across Europe.

He will demonstrate the value of knowledge sharing between organisations, explaining how EUWIN will make a wide range of expertise and experience on workplace innovation freely available to companies.

The workshop will be of value to managers and employee representatives from large and small businesses in the manufacturing, service and public sectors.

The event was organized by the Social Policy Faculty’s Communication and Informatics Institute.

Prof. Totterdill is the Director of UKWON’s sister company, Workplace Innovation Limited, a consultancy agency specialising in sustainable organisational change through employee engagement.

He is a passionate advocate of organisational practices that combine high performance and high quality of working life. His career as a researcher, policy advisor and consultant has focused on building bridges between academic knowledge and practice.

Prof. Totterdill maintains close academic ties with universities across the U.K. and Europe, and especially through his role as a Visiting Professor at Kingston University London.
