While later CI Dean V. Valentinavičius moderated discussion devoted to the significance of cultural exchanges in cooperation with Asia.

Korea's Dongseo President and MRU honorary degree recepient Prof. Dr. Jekuk Chang attended and discussed "The World In Transition: Moving Toward the New Normal."

The Conference was organized by Lithuania's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. MRU is a partner.

The conference brought together experts, politicians, businessmen and cultural representatives from China, Korea, Japan, India, Bhutan, the U.S.A., Singapore, the European Union, NATO and the Eastern Neighborhood countries. They discussed issues relating to the dialogue between East and West. They also discussed interactions between political ideals and policies, economic strength and culture underlying soft power.

Speakers from more than a dozen countries and international organizations shared insights into developments in the Asia-Pacific region and their impact on Europe and Lithuania.

“Today, the eyes of the world are on Asia. The Asia-Pacific region has become particularly prominent on the global geopolitical, economic and innovation map. Lithuania with its academic, scientific, cultural and business community, which is seeking and finding many paths to mutually beneficial cooperation with Asian partners, is no exception,” said Lithuania's Foreign Affairs Minister Linas Linkevičius in his opening statement.

According to Minister Linkevičius, during 15 years since joining the informal platform for dialogue and cooperation – the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) – and becoming a member of the Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF), Lithuania’s political, economic and cultural dialogue with Asia has been gaining momentum.
