2.    Projects

 

·      Gender gap

 

Project is aimed to identify and analyse the underlying reasons of gender gap in income and pensions in Lithuania, to develop tools and monitor the effectiveness of measures to tackle gender gaps in income and pensions, to build capacity of relevant professionals to use and apply these tools, to raise awareness on the causes and consequences of gender gaps over the life cycle. The project’s activities will target different groups that will directly and indirectly benefit from the project’s results: social partners (employers, trade unions and other employee’s organisations, labour market, social security, gender equality professionals, pedagogues, politicians and decision makers, researchers, interested civil society organisations, in particular women’s organisations and more generally women and men).

 

Scientific researchers of Gender Studies Laboratory will perform research of the root causes of the gender gaps in income and pensions and develop conclusions and recommedations, will present them to the representatives of state institutions, employees and employers organisations, other interested organisations. On the basis of the research Manuals / Practical Informative Guides based on the survey results (WS2) and good foreign practice will be prepared for Lithuanian state authorities (State Labour Inspectorate, State Social Insurance Fund and others) in order to encourage the effective application of existing laws, tools, instruments; for employees (and future employees) on the choice of professions and employment decisions that affect their future pensions; for employers, in order to encourage the practical application of already established legal and other measures, leading to equal pay and pensions, including link to the Equal pay self-test tool – LOGIB software and instructions on how to use LOGIB. Methodology of Impact assessment of measures addressing gender gaps in income and pensions will be developed, based on the findings of the survey of employees and employers. Key behavioural elements will be identified and measures selected addressing gender gaps in pay and pensions. The monitoring, evaluation and reporting procedures will be based on recognised methodological approaches.

 

The project is supported by the Eupopean Commission,  Rights, Equality and Citizenship programme. Project coordinator – Ministry of social security and Labour of the Republic of Lithuania. Partners – Mykolas Romeris University, Women‘s Issues Information Centre. Duration of the project –– 24 months.

5.    Expert evaluation of gender discrimination cases upon request of the office of the Equal Opprtunities Ombudsperson

 

Preparation of analytical evaluations upon request from the point of view of gender equality/gender discrimination for the Equal Opportunities Ombudsperson, who’s one of the responsibilities is to investigate cases/complaints of discrimination against women in labour market, media, advertisement and other spheres.

  

6.    Cooperation

 

Scientific researchers of Gender Studies Laboratory cooperate with the other Laboratories, gender equality institutions and organisations in Lithuania and the EU countries. Particiption in drafting joint project, conducting research, surveys, developing studies, performing analytical activities, preparing presentations, training materials, expertise and consultancy are the most frequent cooperation forms.
