• Dovydas Bliujus and Viktorija Valantinaite, Graduates:
The choice of the Master Programme :
Dovydas : “In order to earn Master‘s degree, I spend long hours searching for a programme that will suit my work position – working as a social worker. Then I received the information about Joint Master‘s programme which was essential to the intensive international learning.”
Viktorija : “I did not wait too long to choose Social work with children and youth, and I do not have regrets to this day.”
Major strength :
Viktorija : “First of all, the format of this programme is perfect and allows for those, who are fully engaged in labor market (working), to study. on convenient and innovative format, there could be uprising of such programmes in the future. It is also important to note, that the team of coordinators and lecturers are competent, flexible and friendly. The seminars are always interactive, we are taught to develop strategies and model our steps to solve issues
Joint study programme with its format are meaningful both in theoretical and practical knowledge. Practical knowledge is at a core of the programme, because we spend much time on analyzing real-life situations. Visits at the institutions are probably the most significant virtue, because theory is directly applied into practice. This aspect usually is lacking in other study programmes
.”
Dovydas : “In a short time I gained a lot of experience and knowledge which still impacts my life to this day. Thus, I could not miss on this opportunity to study at the Joint Master‘s programme. “Out of the box“ – perfectly describes this programme. First of all, studies are embedded in international dimension, where you can communicate openly with highly skilled experts in your field. Some courses are team-taught by couple lecturers which provide great balance. Second, new information is reinforced by the visits to governmental and nongovernmental institutions. During these visits we can compare views and positions of both ours and specialists. These visits are essential part of the programme. Third, is the format of the programme – studies can easily fit with your work schedule.
Conclusion words from Victorija :
Joint Master‘s study programme is a perfect choice for those who seek to earn higher education degree, develop new competences, gain valuable experience by analyzing not only Lithuania‘s, but also other countries‘ practices and policies.”

• Ulla Zumente- Steele (Latvia), Graduate:
Joint Masters programme “Social Work with Children and Youth” is an excellent opportunity to study a specifically designed combination of academic and practical subjects providing a wealth of information and exposure to current issues in the field of children and youth. One of the strengths of the programme is the encouragement from the teachers to think globally, to care about social development and social justice at all societal levels, to explore multicultural aspects, and to undertake comparative social policy studies related to youth. An asset of the programme is that it has attracted a group of students of diverse personal and professional backgrounds who are in a variety of ways devoted to addressing social issues of children and youth, and to the promotion of their well-being. Successful learning requires from the students ability to carry out a significant amount of independent research and study work, balanced by active participation during intensive in-class seminars in Vilnius and Riga and in e-study formats.

• Master's Degree student Paul Jiti Ngeh from Buea, Cameroon
The programme by partnering with Riga Stadins University in Latvia is giving the opportunity for students to study in different cultural backgrounds. It allows students to interact with students from other countries and build a professional relationship in the future. Moreover, the programme is flexible, allowing students to continue working at the same time. The lecturers are really cooperative, always available to help students academically and the lectures are done in a more interactive way than in Cameroon.
Concerning the University, it is a study-friendly environment, with a great library and well equiped. The cost of living is low as compared to other European countries.
That is why I value my studies here at MRU. I would recommend that other students come because they will have a better opportunity to study in a friendly environment.
After graduation, I hope to return to Cameroon to work for an NGO as a social worker providing social services including helping those combatting drug abuse and violent behaviours.
