Why this study programme?

The aim of the Financial Industry study programme is to train competent financial professionals, who are able to understand features of the functioning of the financial industry (including banks, credit unions, payment institutions, investment companies, pension funds, finance companies, insurance companies and other companies providing financial services) in a rapidly changing global environment, and are able to apply the acquired knowledge when performing various functions in the financial institutions and enterprises, or while working in businesses and public sector organizations and thus performing financial analysis and financial management activities, which include the selection of financial services (crediting, investment, financing, risk insurance) and the assessment of their risk and suitability for a particular customer, along with business financial management and control. The programme graduates will acquire the knowledge and skills that are required for setting up and managing their own businesses, working in already established businesses, public sector organizations, financial services and consulting firms.

  • This programme is dedicated to the study of all types of financial services and the provision of these services.
  • While studying in the programme you will learn methods of financial analysis and management, gain the most recent knowledge about financial institutions and assessment of their services provided, understand the investment and personal financial management features, obtain knowledge of financial legislation.
  • Students will gain the necessary skills to prepare decisions based on knowledge of the financial management and financial risks.
  • Competency can be developed further in order to graduate master's studies or to achieve professional certificates, such as the certified financial analyst (CFA) or the financial risk manager (FRM).
  • This programme is enhanced by the subjects in financial and commercial law. So the students will gain essential competencies required in financial and legal areas.

Financial industry covers banks, insurance companies, investment companies, payment companies and many others. The finance industry is like a circulatory system of the economy. Financial services are necessary for all participants in the global market. Private companies, public sector bodies and individuals – all of them are buying financial services. It is not possible to refuse financial services and there are no substitutes. The financial sector is evolving very rapidly and there are new forms of financial services and their provision. In the case of an abundant supply of various financial services it is a big challenge to be responsible to choose what everybody needs for a particular business, or the activity of the person. So, your knowledge and skills, which you will gain by studying in the financial industry programme will be used for real work. You will be stronger and better prepared to build your business. You will be competitive in the job market, because you'll be ready to work in the areas of financial management and consulting in business and the public sector. You will understand the specifics of the activities of the financial industry, so you will be able to work in one of the many financial institutions.

Entry requirements

  • Secondary education (grade in mathematics).
  • English language proficiency - the level not lower than B1 (following the Common Framework of Reference for Language approved by the Council of Europe). Distant English language level test is organized for those, who do not possess IELTS or TOEFL certificates.
In case your English language level is not sufficient, please choose English Language Minor studies. During the first study year students, who enter a major Bachelor study programme together with minor English language studies, will focus on language studies only. Upon completion of one year Minor English Language studies and reaching sufficient English language proficiency level international students will continue studies on their selected Major.

International mobility possibilities

The 2nd and 3rd year students can participate in ERASMUS+ mobility programme which gives a possibility to study at a university abroad for 1 or 2 semesters and do internship in another country.

Career prospects

The content of the study programme and its orientation to maintain sustainable financial system and create framework that would meet the needs for financial services, leads to a wide range of career alternatives for the programme graduates. Graduates will be able to work in financial institutions, business organizations, public institutions, performing activities of financial managers, financial services brokers, investment managers, risk governors. They will also be able to carry out consultation activities or create their own businesses and carry out the financial management functions.
