    MRU Student Wins 2nd Place in MRU Chess Tournament

    March 29th, 2019, MRU student Andrius Brazdžionis won 2nd place in the open MRU "Žaibas" Chess Tournament for the "ROSK Consulting" Cup. International Master and Lithuanian Chess Champion Tomas Laurušas won first place with 8,5 points of 9 possible. Third place went to MRU Alumnus and FIDE Master Tautvydas Vedrickas.     Law Prof. Sinkevičius & Lecturer Azbainis Win Table Tennis Tournament

    March 21st, 2019, MRU Law Prof. Vytautas Sinkevičius and Faculty of Economics and Business Lecturer Dr. Vytautas Azbainis won the Table Tennis Tournament Among Higher Education Institution employees in their age groups. It was held at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) Sports Centre. There were 17 employees from 5 different universities that took part.

    March 21st, 2019, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Bachelor's Degree student Andrius Brazdžionis placed 2nd among 82 chess players in Lithuania's Chess Championships 2019 held in Vilnius March 15-21st. After 9 rounds, he came in 2nd after chess champ Tomas Laurušas.

  • Assc. Prof. Zaksaitė Elected World Chess Federation's Fair Play Commission Chair

    From Jan. 1st, 2019, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law School Assoc. Prof. Salomėja Zaksaitė has been elected Chairperson of the World Chess Federation's (FIDE)  Fair Play Commission. The World Chess Federation unites 188 member federations and is one of the largest sports federations in the world. Zaksaitė is the 1st representative of FIDE from Lithuania since 1924, when FIDE was established.

    MRU Athlete of the Year - Runner Simas Bertašius

    Dec. 14th, 2018, during an awards ceremony, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) student runner Simas Bertašius was selected as the Best 2018 MRU Athlete of-the-Year. The ceremony took place in the Vilnius Art Academy Gotika Hall. Bertašius is a Faculty of Public Governance International Politics and Economics Master's Degree student.

    Nov. 28th, 2018, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Bachelor's Degree Law student Jokūbas Stasiulis won a bronze medal in the weight category of up to 105 kg in the European Youth, & Youth Open Triathlon Championship held in Kaunas. Sweden's Emil Norling won gold.

    Fun & Games: Student "High Living" Dorm Contest to Begin

    From Oct. 23rd - Dec. 1st, 2018, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) students living in dormitories, are invited to take place in a "Student High Living" competition pitting students from various dorm room floors in games, competitions and sports activities. Each dorm floor will constitute a student team. The Contest, which will be underway until December, will result in prizes and a trip for the winning dormitory floor students.

    During the 2017/2018 academic year, MRU university students won 15 gold, 27 silver and 26 bronze medals and placed 4th among 15 institutions of higher education in Lithuania, according to the number of sports medals. First place went to the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU); 2nd - Vilnius University; 3rd - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU).

    Student Runner Simas Bertašius Breaks Another Record

    Over the weekend, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) student, champion runner Simas Bertašius broke another record in the 1500 m category with a 39,88 second run in the Athletics Championships held in Ogre, Latvia. The time allows him to meet the normative requirement for participating in the 2018 European Athletics Championships in Berlin Aug. 7-12th, 2018. On June 2nd, in Utena, Bertašius broke a 31-yr-old standing record to become the fastest runner in Lithuania the 1500 m category with a 40,41 second time during the LLAF tournament.

    MRU Student Bertašius Breaks 31-Yr Old Record to Become Fastest in LT

    June 2nd, 2018, MRU Master's Degree Faculty of Public Governance Faculty student Simas Bertašius broke a 31-year-old standing record (1500 m) set by Pavel Fedorenka in 1987 to become the fastest in Lithuania.
