Quarantine Doesn't Hinder Univ Cooperation: New Partner in Azerbaijan

9598587116165707018264084669780575001772032o Despite ongoing quarantine, Mykolas Romeris University Rector Prof. Inga Žalėnienė has been successfully developing cooperation in the virtual sphere with partners in EU Eastern Partnership countries.

During a virtual meeting on May 6th, Rector led a university team and discussed cooperation possibilities with Azerbaijan's Academy of the State Customs Committee Rector Prof. Dr. Gulu Novruzov and his delegation.

Both sides discussed cooperation in the areas of studies, research and projects connected with customs activities. Lithuania's Ambassador to Azerbaijan Egidijus Navikas also participated in the virtual meeting. The Ambassador noted that there was a virtual meeting between the Presidents of Lithuania and Azerbaijan at the end of April marking good bilateral relations between the two countries.

The EU Erasmus+ programme - student and lecturers exchanges, studies quality, good remote learning methods, experience in remote online learning, double diploma programmes and lifelong learning were some of the subjects discussed.

Cooperation with partners in EU Eastern Partnership countries, especially in areas of the University's competencies, are important for Mykolas Roomers University. This is an opportunity to prepare and implement projects with institutions in these countries and exchange experiences.

MRU has been implementing studies programmes developing competencies of customs professionals such as: International Business and Customs Logistics, Law and Customs Activities, and Cybersecurity Management.

Both Rectors decided to formalise their cooperation by signing an agreement and to form working groups that will help implement concrete activities.
