"Veidas" conducted a survey of the most influential leaders in Lithuania in seven categories based on the opinions of Seimas parliament members, ministers, vice-ministers, mayors and high-ranking state civil servants.

In the education and research area, Rector Prof. Pumputis placed second.

The Oct. 21st "Veidas" issue also includes an interview with Rector Prof. Pumputis.

The magazine hailed Rector Prof. Pumputis as a visionary and part of the elite of Lithuania's education system.

Rector Prof. Pumputis said that in order to create a university, you have to look ahead more than 10 years.

"I envisioned the steps about 15 years ahead," Rector Pumputis said.

Asked with which universities MRU would like to develop international cooperation, he said "modern universities" such as London's Middlesex University.

MRU joined hands with Middlesex University creating the Business and Media School (BMS), a new joint school at Mykolas Romeris University, which began operating this fall. It offers dual degree diplomas in Bachelor and Master's Degree studies accredited by Middlesex University in London.

Rector Prof. Pumputis also said that MRU is mostly interested in Asia, because progress is quicker there and there is much investment in education there.
