Polyglot Student from Portugal: MRU’s Big, Modern & Many International Students

Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Erasmus+ Master's Degree student Dalila Silva from Porto, Portugal, has been in Vilnius and MRU for only a few weeks. She says she is impressed by how big and modern the University is and how many international students are studying here.

The 21-year-old student, who is a student at the University of Minho Braga, said MRU is well-located, the dorms nearby, - on campus and the supermarkets IKI and Rimi only a hop and skip away.

"I am very satisfied with my studies here and the accessibility of the MRU campus. It's perfect. I wasn't expecting it to be such an accessible place," she said.

Dalila, an International Business major, is also studying Russian and Chinese and already fluent in English.

Her Human Resource Management course, taught by MRU Management Institute Prof. Tadas Sudnickas, is interesting. She enjoys Economics and Business Faculty Prof. Vida Davidavičienė's course, "Business Strategies and Solutions."

MRU Lecturers pay much attention to international students here and make sure we understand the course material, Dalila said.

"I like the fact that there are seminars here and it's my favourite part of the course," she said. Unfortunately, today I have only lectures and no seminars, she said.

Dalila said she loves the chance to meet many international students at MRU. She has already made friends with students from Germany, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, Italy. "The Italians are so open," she added.

She cooks in the dorm and often makes spaghetti. She said she is looking forward to trying Lithuanian cuisine.

But, she is apprehensive about the coming winter and the gloomy, cold, cloudy days Lithuania is known for. She said she has brought a warm coat, but wonders if it will be warm enough.

The worst thing about studies at MRU is that I am here "unfortunately, only for one semester," she said. I need to go back and complete my Master's thesis. I would love to stay for another semester, she says wistfully.
