MRU Assoc. Prof. Dumbliauskas Discusses Riga Maxima Tragedy & Ukraine

dumblas2013 Dec. 2nd, Mykolas Romeris University Assoc. Prof. Vytautas Dumbliauskas was part of a roundtable discussion on the "Žinių radijas" programme, "Įvykiai ir komentarai" (Events and Commentary) that dealt with demonstrations in Kiev, Ukraine, and the recent roof collapse of a Maxima supermarket in Riga.

At least 50 people were killed last month, when the roof of a building housing the Maxima supermarket collapsed in Riga, Latvia, located not far from the Riga airport.

Dumbliauskas mentioned on the radio programme that he is jealous of the "hope" that is evident in the air in Ukraine. It is hope that is lacking in today's Lithuania, where immigration is high and where politicians haggle over who disclosed what sensitive info to the press instead of addressing pressing societal concerns, he noted.

Dumbliauskas is an Assoc. Prof. in the MRU Faculty of Politics and Management's Institue of Political Sciences.
