Nov. 10th, 2017, MRU Law Faculty Dean Prof. Lyra Jakulevičienė and VU Law School Dean Prof. Tomas Davulis along with members of the Supreme Court of Lithuania, the Lithuanian Bar Association, the Notaries Union, the Prosecutor's Office and other university academics gathered at the Seimas for a discussion on the future of legal education in Lithuania.

Seimas parliament Legal Affairs Committee Head Julius Sabatauskas chaired the discussion. Journalists' Union Head Dainius Radzevičius moderated.

Participants discussed the role of legal education, its future and expressed opinions about possible mergers. A majority of academics taking part said there was no need to merge Law Schools in Lithuania and the diversity of legal education options ensured competition among students, schools and academics.

MRU Law Faculty Dean Prof. Jakulevičienė made a slide presentation. She said MRU not only prepares future members of the legal profession working in Lithuania, but by way of several joint programmes with Ukrainian universities, also helps educate Ukrainian students.

Justice Minister Prof. Milda Vainiūtė also participated, along with Lithuania's Supreme Court Chairman Prof. Rimvydas Norkus and Lithuanian Bar Association Head and MRU Prof. Ignas Vėgėlė.
