July 8th-14th, 2019, Rio de Janeiro native Louise Ferreira is volunteering at the Transparency International (TI) Anti-Corruption Summer School underway at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Vilnius.

The 29-year-old Brazilian, who lives in Poland, said the Summer School is a great way to network and meet people from all over the world. "I like the work of TI and hope to one day get a job in Berlin," she said.

She left Brazil in 2014 and headed for Poland, where she majored in Cultural Studies at Kraków's Jagiellonian University. Now she has a consultancy firm and deals with anti-corruption issues.

"I wanted to travel abroad," explained Louise about her unusual choice to live in Poland. "I never thought I could live abroad," she added. When she left for Poland in 2014, it was the first time that she had been abroad.

It was thanks to Google and all the positive press items that she read about Kraków that encouraged her to move and live there.

She has taken a week-long break from the Human Rights Summer School in Oslo, where she is currently studying, to volunteer at the Vilnius Summer School.

Her choice to study and live in Poland has been "life changing" and she already speaks Polish.

But, she said the city of her "dreams" is Berlin and she hopes one day to move there.

Louise also has plans to pursue a PhD.
