Azerbaijan's Ambassador Visited MRU Oct. 23rd

image003 Oct. 23rd, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Lithuania Hasan Mammadzada visited Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and met with Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis.

MRU Vice-Rector for Research and International Relations Prof. Inga Žalėnienė, MRU Vice-Rector for Development Stasys Vaitkevičius and MRU Senate Chairman Vytautas Pakalniškis took part in the meeting.

During the meeting there was discussion about MRU's cooperation with institutions of higher learning in Azerbaijan.

Ambassador Mammadzada praised MRU's infrastructure and the excellent conditions for studies.

He said that Mykolas Romeris University "as a serious and trusted partner attracts more and more students from Azerbaijan."

The Ambassador said that his country supports studies of students abroad using profits from the Oil Fund.

There was discussion about expanding cooperation in the areas of studies, research, in cultural projects and the possibility to prepare joint study programmes.

Ambassador Mammadzada also said that there will be an upcoming event at the Embassy where students from Azerbaijan studying at MRU and other institutions of higher learning in Lithuania will meet with Azeri journalists.

"Students are the best ambassadors, attesting to the relations between countries and research institutions," the Ambassador said.

Mykolas Romeris University has forged close ties with Azerbaijan. There have been bilateral cooperation agreements signed with Baku's State University and Azerbaijan's State Economics University.
