After Olympics Silver Medal Winner Šuklinas Hurrying to MRU

suklinaspliadis- August 16th, the weekly "Žmonės" (People) magazine dedicated a four-page spread to London Games Olympic champion canoeist Jevgenijus Šuklinas who is a MRU student.

Šuklinas, 26, won a silver medal in the Men's Canoe Single's Finals 200 m event at London's Olympics.

He was banking on winning a gold medal at the Olympics, but said that he had to row against the wind and with his weight of more than 100 kg, it is difficult to get off to a good, quick start.

"When I get going, I ride like a train," Šuklinas told the magazine reporter.

He said after the Olympics he will have about a month of vacation. But the Visaginas native said he will not stay long in his home town as "I have to show up at Mykolas Romeris University where I am studying for a Master's in Public Administration," he said.
