MRU Dept. Head Aleknonis Discussed Newsworthy Events on Radio Programme - August 29th
August 29th, MRU Political Sciences Dept. Head Assoc. Prof. Gintaras Aleknonis appeared on the "Žinių radijas" radio programme, "Events & Commentary" and discussed the most newsworthy events of the past week.  Aleknonis is an Assoc. Prof. in the  Faculty of Politics & Management's Dept. of Political Sciences.
MRU Seeking to Attract Students from Arab-Countries
August 24th, the daily online news website DELFI.lt reports that MRU is taking steps to attract more students from Arab countries. MRU International Relations Office Head Gedrutė Račienė is quoted in the article as saying that MRU plans to attend fairs in Arab countries to attract students and that Arab language classes will be offered at MRU. In addition, Račienė said that MRU has already prepared an agreement with Beirut University. "These would be the first steps and we see a perspective, because cooperation with Arab countries is growing...." she said.
MRU Assoc. Prof. R. Jasinavičius Discussed Earnings, Salaries & Wages on Radio Programme
August 19th, on the "Žinių radijas" radio's "Theme of the Day Question" regarding salaries and their size, MRU Assoc. Prof. Rimvydas Jasinavičius (see photo) appeared to present his views. Jasinavičius is an Assoc. Prof. in MRU's Dept. of Business Economics in the Faculty of Economics and Finance Management.
Swimming Champion Giedrius Titenis Wins Two Gold Medals in Universiade in China
August 17th, the daily newspaper, "Vilniaus Diena" published an article about swimmer Giedrius Titenis winning two gold medals in the 26th Summer Universiade underway in Shenzhen, China. Titenis becomes the first Lithuanian athlete to win two gold medals in the student Universiade 2011 Shenzhen.
MRU Philosophy Prof. Kuzmickas Discusses Patriotism and Nationalism in Roundtable Discussion
August 5th, the daily newspaper, "Lietuvos Žinios," published a roundtable discussion on patriotism and nationalism. MRU Philosophy prof. Bronislovas Kuzmickas participated in the discussion.
Law Faculty Prof. Vaišvila Discussed Governance and Representing Citizens in Local Municipalities
August 2nd, Law Faculty Professor Alfonas Vaišvila (see photo) participated in a discussion on the "Žinių radijas," radio "Raktas" (Key) programme on municipalities and representing the interests of citizens. MRU doctoral student Virginija Kondratienė also participated. Vaišvila is a professor in the Law Faculty's Dept. of Philosophy of Law and Legal History.
MRU Has Largest Amount of Tuition-Paying Students
August 1st, the online news website "DELFI.lt" reports that MRU attracted the largest amount of students who will pay tuition fees themselves or receive support from parents. After the first admission stage, MRU signed 1,655 study agreements with students who will pay their own tuition. At other universities this number is about half as large.
