MRU's International Relations Office Head Račienė Discusses Creation of Chair for Indian Studies
January 31st, MRU's International Relations Office Head Gedrutė Račienė was interviewed by the "Žinių radijas" radio in a piece about establishment of a Chair of Indian Studies at Mykolas Romeris University. MRU Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis and India's Ambassador J.E. Deepak Vohra on Jan. 31st, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) establishing the Chair, the first of its kind in Lithuania and the Baltic States.

Students with Disabilities Most Welcome at MRU - Equipped with Facilities to Cater to Their Needs
January 31st, the daily newspaper "Lietuvos Rytas," in a special section devoted to Studies and Higher Ed writes that MRU is well-equipped to welcome disabled students. The bathrooms at MRU's new 4-story wing are equipped for handicapped access. So are entries to the building. The new wing also has elevators able to carry students to all of the new building's auditoriums and conference halls.

MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Jurka Discusses Suing for a Slipper Sidewalk
January 31st, the weekly news magazine, "Veidas," interviewed MRU Criminal Procedure Dept. Head Raimundas Jurka on going to court, after a fall on a slipper sidewalk. Jurka, an attorney, said in essence filing a case, after a fall on a slippery sidewalk that hasn't been properly cared for, is not all that difficult. But proving your case in court is another matter because the injured party must present proof that the sidewalk was indeed slippery and uncared for.

MRU Career Officer Sakalauskas Discusses Popularity of Studies Programmes
January 30th, the monthly magazine, "IQ" in its February 2011 edition has published an interview with Mykolas Romeris University Career Officer Edmundas Sakalauskas on popularity of studies programmes. He says that employers and the market have the biggest effect on programme popularity. MRU consults with employers as it creates new studies programmes, he said.

MRU Prof. Kulakauskas Discusses Upcoming Municipal Elections in Daily, "Verslo Žinios"
January 28th, the daily business newspaper, "Verslo Žinios," published an interview with Mykolas Romeris University Prof. Antanas Kulakauskas regarding upcoming municipal elections. The interview is published in the weekend supplement, "Savaitgalis." Kulakauskas is a professor in MRU's Faculty of Politics and Management's Dept. of Political Sciences.

Olympic-medal winner and MRU Law Faculty Grad Says He Can't Stop Working Out
January 26th, the weekly sports newspaper, "Sportas," published a front-page interview with MRU Law Faculty graduate and Olympic medal winner Andrejus Zadneprovskis. The pentathelete says that despite retirement from professional sport, he needs to keep working out. "If I'm not working out, I feel weak. MRU Law Faculty Professor Sinkevičius Comments on Parliament Members and TV Dance Shows
January 24th, the weekly news magazine, "Veidas," published MRU Law Faculty Professor Vytautas Sinkevičius' article titled, "Does the Consititution Allow Seimas Members to Participate in TV Dance Shows." Sinkevičius is a Constitutional Law Professor in MRU's Law Faculty.

January 21st, the independent weekly education newspaper, "Dialogas," writes about a special competition organized for pupils at MRU's Social Informatics Faculty in December. The article under the sub-heading, "Profession of the Future," is titled, "What pupils learned about the business and informatics connection at Mykolas Romeris University."

January 14th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Assoc. Prof. Tomas Butvilas participated in a discussion on the "Žinių Radijas," radio programme, "Renkuosi šeimą" ("Choosing Family") about children left "orphans" by parents who choose to work abroad. Butvilas is an Assoc. Prof. in the Social Policy Faculty's Educology Department.

MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Bitinas Appointed to Ministry Vice-Minister's Post
January 12th, the daily online news site www.DELFI.lt reports that MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Audrius Bitinas has been appointed a Vice-minister in the Ministry of Social Security and Labour. Bitinas, 35, is an Assoc. Prof. in MRU's Department of Labour Law and Social Security.

MRU Psychology Dept. Lecturer Birbilaitė Discusses Overcoming Depression
January 11th, MRU Psychology Dept. lecturer and Clinical Psychologist Sandra Birbilaitė comments on depression in an article in the daily newspaper, "Lietuvos Žinios." She said loved ones can help the depressed by simply being together, talking, but avoiding pressuring the depressed.

MRU Law Faculty Biolaw Dept. Professor Discusses Institution of Matrimony - January 11th
January 11th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Law Faculty Professor Andrius Narbekovas participated in a discussion on the Žinių Radijas programme, "Topic of the Day." Prof. Narbekovas discussed the meaning and value of the sacrament of marriage in contemporary Lithuania. Narbekovas is a professor in MRU's Dept. of Biolaw.

MRU Constitutional Law Professor Žilys Discusses how ECHR Decision on Impeached President Will Affect Others
January 10th, MRU Constitutional Law Dept. Professor Juozas Žilys is quoted in an article on the news website DELFI.lt. He comments on the European Court of Human Rights' recent decision that impeached President Rolandas Paksas' ban to participate in parliament elections was unproportional and how it could help others in a similiar position. If the Seimas decides to change laws or even the Consititution, it would affect other individuals who were impeached, according to Žilys.

Sinkevičius is a law professor in MRU's Constitutional Law Dept.

January 7th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Chancellor and Political Sciences Dept. Assoc. Prof. Saulius Spurga participated in Lithuanian Radio's programme, "Ryto garsai." He commented on the recent European Court of Human Rights decision dealing with the ban on impeached ex-President Rolandas Paksas taking part in elections.

January 4th, the weekly news magazine "Veidas," in its first issue of the year - a special edition titled, "Prognoses," published an interview with Mykolas Romeris University Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis. In the article, Rector Pumputis is quoted as saying that Lithuania's universities should not compete, but "unite and work together," as student numbers in the decade ahead are set to dwindle.
