Folk Dancing Group "Skalsa"

In the fall of 2008, the University's Folk Dancing Group was formed. A group of enthusiastic, young students joined the group uniting one and all in their love of folk dancing. Although the group is still very young, they have already managed to take part in several concerts including: Erasmus Day events for Vilnius University students at the "New York" Club, a Christmas concert held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), and at a concert during "Erasmus Week" for foreign students at MRU. In March of 2009, the Folk Dancing Group performed in Mexico and took part in an international cultural festival there visiting Acapulco, Veracruz, Mexico City and numerous small towns and villages. The dance group also performed in the Lithuanian Song Festival held in Vilnius' Vingis Park in July of 2009.

In June of 2010, "Skalsa" dance group members performed during the closing ceremony of the International Association of Universities (IAU) 2010 Conference, "Ethics and Values in Higher Education in the Era of Globalisation: What Role for the Disciplines?" The event was held in the picturesque castle resort town of Trakai, not far from Vilnius. In addition dancers represented the University at a festival in Slovakia, "Trnavska Brana 2010." In April 2012, "Skalsa" dancers performed in Spain's Lloret de Mar and represented MRU at an international folklore festival,  "CÔTED' AZUR."

We are always eager to accept new members. All are welcome.
