CHALLENGES OF DEMOCRACY IN POST-COMMUNIST EUROPE: NATIONAL IDENTITY

June 14 – 22, 2009

The Summer School invites doctoral students in social sciences for an intensive one-week summer course on challenges of democracy in post-communist Europe. This course aims to provide a comparative perspective on the evolution of democratic practices in the region as well as a conceptual background into issues of democracy and national identity.

Eligibility: Doctoral students in social sciences writing their thesis on democracy and democratisation in post-communist Europe.

Language of instruction: English.

Funding: The organizers will cover living costs and accommodation for the duration of the one-week course. The participants are responsible to cover their travel expenses.
