Activities and Goals

The mission of the Research Center is together with Mykolas Romeris University’s community to raise the importance of social sciences and humanities in establishing sustainable development and smooth Lithuania’s integration into global structures by implementing the most progressive provisions of European and global research area, connecting research and education, developing creative skills, fostering values, integrating scientific innovations into study processes, promoting scientific research and fundraising for it.

The vision of the Research Center is to become an internationally oriented elite university of social sciences and humanities by contributing to the development of research policy in Lithuania and internationally, joining the European and global research area and playing an active role in it.

The goals of the Research Center are the following:

  • in cooperation with the faculties to establish and consolidate Mykolas Romeris University’s research strategies and priorities, to develop research and innovations implementation policy;
  • to develop and reinforce quality standards for Mykolas Romeris University’s research output and establish mechanisms to control, promote, rank and disseminate it;
  • to coordinate and promote the integration of the Mykolas Romeris University’s research into Lithuanian, European and global research area;
  • to develop and coordinate Mykolas Romeris University’s policy for doctoral studies.

The tasks of the Research Centre include:

  • in cooperation with the faculties to establish Mykolas Romeris University’s research strategy and priorities with regard to the needs for fundamental and applied research in social sciences and humanities, social development and educational processes;
  • to initiate and carry out promotion of social sciences and the humanities at Mykolas Romeris University as well as on national and international level, to provide proposals for strengthening socio-economic dimension in Lithuanian R & D area;
  • to analyze and initiate new research development directions with regard to the need for interdisciplinary research, local and global cohesion and the most recent trends of social sciences and humanities in Europe and globally;
  • to explore the possibilities of creating national and international competence centers at Mykolas Romeris University, and in the event they confirm, to initiate and carry out integration of research directions into international systems and networks of social sciences and the humanities;
  • to collect, systematize and summarize the information on research carried out by Mykolas Romeris University’s academic community;
  • to prepare the standards for quality assessment and assurance of research results on the basis of Lithuanian and EU legislation, best practices of other institutions and recommendations of international organizations.
  • to carry out monitoring of quality standards for research;
  • to disseminate information to Mykolas Romeris University’s academic community on integration into European and global research area, to assist in finding research partners;
  • to coordinate the organizational process of national and international scientific conferences;
  • to disseminate the information about researcher mobility possibilities by encouraging researchers to take part in competitions, and in cooperation with other departments to coordinate the preparation of project proposals;
  • to provide information on national and international research programmes and projects that are in line with Mykolas Romeris University's strategic goals;
  • to organize work groups for the preparation of project proposals, to provide assistance and consultations to researchers on project funding possibilities;
  • in cooperation with the Project Development Centre to coordinate research projects carried out at the University;
  • to coordinate the process of doctoral studies and carry out monitoring of study process;
  • to look for innovation opportunities in doctoral studies and take an active part to implement them;
  • to coordinate the compliance between Mykolas Romeris University’s research directions and dissertational researches.
