Butrimonys gymnasium
Ramutė Jablonskienė, social pedagogue in Butrimonys gymnasium, Alytaus district (Social partner of MRU):
If you w ant to stay young and useful, sustain interest in innovations, travel, actively create and design location and activities independently, and plan your schedule – choose Social pedagogy and Law studies.  Here, you’ll have an unlimited opportunity to grow by yourself and raise the young generation. It is obvious that it isn’t the most lucrative profession. But how could the money be equated with a child’s smile or a scribbled sun, painted with lots of passion and love, or a gingerly uttered "thank you…"?

Student testimonials

Andželika Dočkytė, graduate:
I’m sure that choosing Mykolas Romeris University was a great decision. I would make the same choice again if I had to!
Firstly, the teachers in my faculty are great people who not only share necessary knowledge, but are also very friendly and hospital to students. Secondly, the university grants cosy and modern environment and that makes students come by the university even on a day off.
When I was studying social pedagogy, I met a lot of people who changed my life: I have attended international projects recommended by the university, I left the country twice with the Erasmus+ programme and I have done internship for four times! All of that gave me a firm friendship that was proven by time and travelling; an abundance of ideas that I am going to accomplish in the near future; a CV which attracts many employers; and, of course, knowledge that is valuable in every step I take both in professional and private life.
Deimantė Pukalskaitė, graduate:
I’ve studied social pedagogy in Mykolas Romeris University. Since the first semester I remember the university as a place that is a pleasant environment for learning things. There I’ve met dozens of supportive people – both fellow students and teachers. I value this so much because I’ve never felt alone in the university. My year was the first to take Social pedagogy – everybody had got close attention from the programme supervisors who always took our observations into account.
While studying, I gained not only theoretical, but also practical experience. I’ve done four internships throughout 3.5 years of studying, so I had a chance to test my skills in this particular profession and this experience gave me some kind of pre-eminence while I was looking for a job. At the beginning of the third year I had managed to get a job at a socialization centre where I had an opportunity to encounter a particular pedagogical field – delinquent pedagogy. That was a considerable challenge due to the fact that it was my first workplace where I worked as a social pedagogue and I had to implement all the knowledge I had. Later on I had been employed in an orphanage where I had gained experience with children who are in need of special care.
In addition it is very important to point out that all the studied subjects were valuable and interesting, we could gain a lot of experience and theory. To all the future students I wish to discover courage to test yourselves and accept challenges. This is the only way to find things that will put some meaning and joy to your life!
