Leisure and Entertainment Education (Undergraduate)

Why this study programme?

The main aim of this study programme is to prepare qualified specialists of informal education. The students will be able to plan educational programmes, organize and implement recreational and educational events for kids, youth and adults, regarding their requirements and needs.

Leisure and Entertainment Education programme distinguishes itself from study programmes of this field in Lithuania because it focuses on innovative and different features and instances.    

The programme includes three aspects:
  • recreation/leisure,
  • different social groups/communities,
  • education/informal education.
The studies result in current social, cultural and valued attitudes, positive ideas for socialization, capacity for lifelong learning, recreational needs of every individual (youth, disabled or the elderly) and their sociocultural interests.

While creating this programme, we tried to conform to the changing market. It suggests that it is not only important to be a great leisure and entertainment organizer but also to be an organizer who is able to educate the present society. Youthful and professional professors and practitioners are looking for determined and creative people who want to gain considerable knowledge in an intercultural field.

Entry requirements

  • Secondary education (grade in history/foreign language).
  • English language proficiency - the level not lower than B1 (following the Common Framework of Reference for Language approved by the Council of Europe). Distant English language level test is organized for those, who do not possess IELTS or TOEFL certificates.
In case your English language level is not sufficient, please choose English Language Minor studies. During the first study year students, who enter a major Bachelor study programme together with minor English language studies, will focus on language studies only. Upon completion of one year Minor English Language studies and reaching sufficient English language proficiency level international students will continue studies on their selected Major.

International mobility possibilities

The 2nd and 3rd year students can participate in ERASMUS+ mobility programme which gives a possibility to study at a university abroad for 1 or 2 semesters and do internship in another country.   

Career prospects

Graduates of the programme will be able to work at:

  • institutions that organize tourist leisure and entertainment (hotels, restaurants, entertainment bars and centers, night clubs, non-governmental organizations, museums, libraries);
  • centers for education (indoor playgrounds for kids, daycare centers, art and sport centers) for all people (kids, youth, adults, the elderly);
  • all educational institutions;
  • institutions for recreation (sanatoriums, leisure centres,  gyms, rest houses or hotels).
