ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The environmental governance master program prepares graduated students to be high skilled and qualified professionals with competences to work in public and private sphere at local, regional, national and European level. All the courses are based on the sustainable development principles established by the United Nations. The overall aim of this program is to provide knowledge and skills to students to act and develop their capacities at international level, and work in a multicultural environment.
The master program’s aims are to introduce the students to the principles of environmental governance and how they operate in public administration sphere. In the first semester, the students will receive basic knowledge about how to work with new technologies (Geographic Information Analysis) and understand the spatio-temporal dynamics of environmental phenomena.
In the second semester, students will be introduced to the advanced analysis of environment quality and management systems as well as nature resource management. In the last semester of the master program the students will be introduced to the evaluation, assessment and mapping of ecosystem services and environmental innovations.
The master thesis carried out in this course will be developed under the framework of the national and European projects leaded by the lecturers of this program. This allows the students to apply the knowledge and finalize their studies in the real ongoing projects.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students can participate in ERASMUS+ mobility programme, which gives a possibility to study at a university abroad for 1 or 2 semesters and do an internship in another country. Since the studies aim to have an international dimension, master thesis can be co-directed with lecturers from other European Universities and help students to establish their network, useful for career development and learning process.

Students will be trained to be leaders in environment governance. The knowledge and skills developed during the master course, will allow them to be top-level professionals in the local, regional, national and European administration, managing projects related to the environment in public, private and non-environmental organizations, work in territorial planning, environmental consultants, environmental audits, environmental impact assessment and environmental researchers.

This master program is open to graduates with a bachelor in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, Agronomy, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Ecology, Forestry, Environmental Education, Landscape Management, Environmental Economics, Urban planning, Sustainability and Environmental Management, Sociology, Law, Management, Economy, Political Science, and other Environmental related bachelors.

The Environmental Governance master programme will give opportunity for the students to be introduced to environmental topics and challenges important at global scale. The program follow the principles of the Global Partnership on Environment for Sustainability (GUPES) established by United Nations and designed for the students to be linked with national and international projects and be top-level experts in environmental management and governance with a strong practical orientation and multidisciplinary approach.
