The International Association of Universities (IAU) in cooperation with Mykolas Romeris University will organize a significant and unique conference which will attract University leaders and renowned researchers from various disciplines.
The IAU Annual Conference "Ethics and Values in Higher Education in the Era of Globalization: What Role for the Disciplines?" will take place on June 24-26, 2010. More detail information . The speakers of the event will be prominent world and European higher education leaders.
IAU is the UNESCO-based worldwide association of higher education institutions. It brings together institutions and organizations from some 150 countries for reflection and action on common concerns and collaborates with various international, regional and national bodies active in higher education.
Mykolas Romeris University Rector Professor Alvydas Pumputis said: “It is difficult to overestimate the significance of this conference not only for the Lithuanian Higher Education but also for the whole Baltic Region. It provides a unique opportunity to present our University as well as the Lithuanian Higher Education, to establish contacts with the world research community, to join the networks of the Higher Education, and to expand international cooperation.”
The Association celebrated its 60th anniversary in 2008. Throughout its existence, the IAU aims at giving expression to the obligation of universities and other higher education institutions as social institutions to promote, through teaching, research and services, the principles of freedom and justice, of human dignity and solidarity, and contributes, through international cooperation, to the development of material and moral assistance for the strengthening of higher education generally.
In November 2007 during the Global Higher Education Forum in Malaysia, the decision was taken to organize the IAU International Conference in 2010 at Mykolas Romeris University.
In July 2008, Mykolas Romeris University Rector Professor Alvydas Pumputis was elected as a member of the IAU Administrative Board, becoming the first representative of the Lithuanian Higher Education in the IAU during its 60 years of existence. European Higher Education is also represented by other Administrative Board members, Suleyman Demirel University Rector Metin Lufti Baydar (Turkey), University of Kalmar Rector Agneta Bladh (Sweden), Corvinus University of Budapest Vice-Rector Norbert Kis (Hungary), and University Paris 12 - Val de Marne Vice-President Patricia Pol (France).

| President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė has agreed to be the patron of the international conference "Ethics and Values in Higher Education in the Era of Globalization: What Role for the Disciplines?". The conference is organized by International Universities Association in cooperation with Mykolas Romeris University on 24th-25th June 2010. This significant and unique event will attract numerous University leaders and renowned researchers from various disciplines to Mykolas Romeris University. |

Meeting of the Organizing Committee |
| On 14th September, the Organizing Commmittee of the IAU's International Conference in 2010 at Mykolas Romeris University gathered in a meeting. University officials, Deans, student representatives discussed the tasks performed and still to be executed. Issues of the fundraising and promoting the conference locally were the main topics of the discussions. Mykolas Romeris Univeristy is proud to have been selected for co-organizing this significant event. |
