Mykolas Romeris University's Council January 19th, 2010, in an open competition unanimously voted to elect Professor Alvydas Pumputis Rector of the University. The Council favourably evaluated Professor Alvydas Pumputis' pedagogical and management experience and his work managing the University. In addition, his submitted 5-year programme conception for the University received positive reviews.
Council member and International Association of Universities (IAU) Secretary General Eva Egron-Polak noted that "it is my pleasure to wholeheartedly endorse the selection and appointment of Professor Pumputis to this post."
"In my view, Professor Pumputis more than meets all of the requirements stipulated and required for the position and has, over the past several years, amply demonstrated his capacity to lead and manage the institution," Egron-Polak emphasized.
"Under his leadership, MRU is successfully fulfilling its local, national and international mission and I am certain that he will continue to strengthen the institutional capacity in education and research as well as community service,“ she added.
Council chairman Rimas Varkulevičius signed a 5-year labour contract with Rector Professor Alvydas Pumputis, as outlined in Mykolas Romeris University‘s statute. The newly-elected Rector has assumed the duties of Rector of Mykolas Romeris University.
