H.S. Skovoroda Kharkiv National Pedagogical University Assoc. Prof. Ganna Krapivnyk and Assoc. Prof. Yuliia Shpak are visiting to conduct research and expand ties of cooperation between the two institutions of higher education.

They are joined on their visit by colleague and fellow Lecturer Yuliia Hetman.

"We have seen that the infrastructure is quite good at MRU and lots of things are digitalised - including the Library and timetables," said Assoc. Prof. Krapivnyk.

"We have access here to resources, which we don't have in Ukraine," she said mentioning Cambridge University databases.

They are also attending conferences and lectures at MRU by visiting professors such as Ohio State University Prof. Emeritus Joseph Pilotta's lecture on Confucianism on Oct. 12th. They plan to attend the upcoming Discourse, Technology and Translation conference that will be held Oct. 12-13th.

The academics said this is the first visit by scholars from their Kharkiv National Pedagogical University, one of the oldest in Ukraine.

"We are like pioneers here,"said Assoc. Prof. Krapivnyk.

She said this was her first visit to Lithuania. Before coming to Vilnius, she knew that the weather was wet in the fall, knew about the proximity of Lithuania to the Baltic Sea and of course, had heard about Lithuania's President Dalia Grybauskaitė.

The three academics are also in discussions with MRU management on closer cooperation ties.
