THEY DID IT AGAIN! MRU Girls Basketball Team Won Gold!

May 5th, 2016, for the 2nd year in a row, the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Girls Basketball Team won gold medals after defeating the Lithuanian Sports University (LSU) Team 67-61 in the Lithuanian Student Basketball League championships (LSKL).

The championships were held in the MRU Sports Hall making victory even sweeter for the MRU Team.

In the LSKL, the MRU Girls Basketball Team was ranked 1st of six teams.

The MRU Basketball Team's coach is Algirdas Budėnas.

There were some nail-biting moments during the match.

During the 38th minute of the match, only 2 points separated the two teams - 63-61 in favour of MRU. However, during the remaining time, the LSU team was not able to score any points and the MRU team ran off with a 6 point lead.

MRU's top scorer was 26-year-old basketball player Ieva Šimkutė, who scored 27 points. Šimkutė was recognized as the most valuable player.
