May 3rd, 2016, MRU's Basketball Team lost 95--100 to the Klaipėda University (KU) Team, just short of bronze medals in the Lithuanian Student Basketball League's (LSKL) championship game.

MRU top scorers were Margiris Normantas and Ignas Ryla with 20 points each, Rimantas Daunys scored 17 points and Gytis Radzevičius 14 points.

The team's basketball coach Mindaugas Sakalauskas said it was hard to talk after such a tough game. The MRU team fell short of a successful finish and was just a step away from a bronze medal finish.

"I congratulate the Klaipėda Team that came in 3rd," he said. "I thank my men for their dedication and a great fight. That's how it is in sports. One day you can be left without a medal and come so close. I hope that next time success will be on our side," said the coach.

In 2014, Mykolas Romeris University's (MRU) Basketball Team won gold medals after defeating Turkey's Fatih University Team 86-74 at the European Universities Games (EUSA) 2014 in Rotterdam.
