March 9th, 2017, there was an international conference, "The Russia Factor and Security in Central and Eastern Europe," held on campus.

The event was organized by MRU's Politics and Management Faculty.

Academics from the Catholic University of Lublin and Maria Curie-Sklodowska University in Lublin attended.

The following academics made presentations:

Dr. Jakub Olchowski, Assoc. Prof. at the Department of International Relations, Maria Curie-Skłodowska Uniwersity, Lublin.
"Central and Eastern Europe – a Russian Playground."

Dr. Ramūnas Trimakas, Assoc. Prof. at Institute of Political Sciences, Mykolas Romeris University, Vilnius.
"A Palimpsest of Russian Imperialism: Rewriting History of Central and Eastern Europe."

Tomasz Stępniewski, Habil. Dr., Assoc. Prof. Head of the Department of Eastern Studies, The Catholic University of Lublin.
"The Russian-Ukrainian Conflict and Security Issues of the Post-Soviet Space."

Linas Kojala, Director of Institute of Eastern European Studies Center.
"Vulnerability of Baltic States to Russian Pressure."
