    MRU Political Sciences Dept. Lecturer Medalinskas on Diplomacy, Self-Censorship & Freedom of the Press
    June 28th, MRU lecturer Alvydas Medalinskas was a guest on the Lithuanian Radio programme, "Weighing In," ("Ant Svarstyklių") where he discussed diplomacy, freedom of the press and leaks from WikiLeaks. Medalinskas is a lecturer in MRU's Dept. of Political Sciences.
    Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Bitinas on Pension Reform & Increasing Retirement Age
    June 28th, MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Audrius Bitinas, in an article published in the daily online website DELFI.lt, writes about pension reform. From 2012, the retirement age will gradually increase.
    Bitinas is a Vice-Minister in the Ministry of Social Security and Labour.
    Thomas Aquinas Summer School to be Held June 29th-July 10th in Klaipėda
    June 27th, the online news website DELFI.lt reports that the international Thomas Aquinas Summer School, "Ethics in the Third Millenium" will take place in Klaipėda June 29th-July 10th. It is organized in part by MRU's Humanities Institute in cooperation with University of St. Thomas Houston and Klaipeda University. Lecturers will include academics from Italy, Ireland and the U.S. This is the 18th international Thomas Aquinas summer school that will be held.
    Law Faculty Dean Rima Ažubalytė: No Need to Go Abroad for Studies
    June 14th, MRU Law Faculty Dean Assoc. Prof. Rima Ažubalytė said in an interview with the law news website infolex.lt that there is no need for students to go abroad for studies as MRU now offers joint diplomas. Dean Ažubalytė discussed the Faculty's new "EU Law and Governance" Master's Degree programme, which will be offered in English beginning this fall.     Social Policy Faculty Dean Leta Dromantienė On New Bachelor's Degree Programmes at MRU
    June 13th, the daily newspaper "Lietuvos Rytas" published a full-page article about MRU's newly-established Institute of Educology and new programmes that will be offered. The newspaper quotes Social Policy Faculty Dean Prof. Leta Dromantienė (see photo), who mentioned the programmes including "English and 2nd Language Teaching" that will be offered at MRU in the fall. Also interviewed were: Social Work Department head Educology Institute Director Valdonė Indrašienė and Educology Dept. Head Brigita Kairienė.
    MRU Vice-Dean Prof. Danguolė Jankauskienė Discussed Development of Health System
    June 13th, MRU Vice-Dean Professor Danguolė Jankauskienė discussed development of Lithuania's health system in a discussion on the "Žinių radijas" radio programme, "The Real Motive." Professor Jankauskienė is MRU's Vice-Dean in the Faculty of Politics and Management. She is a professor in the Faculty's Department of Political Sciences.

    June 7th, MRU Chancellor Assoc. Prof. Saulius Spurga appeared on the Lithuanian Radio programme, "Theme of the Day," moderated by Tomas Dapkus. Spurga discussed President Dalia Grybauskaitė's annual report that was presented to the Seimas. He is an Assoc. Prof. in MRU's Dept. of Political Sciences.
    MRU Political Sciences Assoc. Prof.Dumbliauskas Discussed President's Annual Report - June 7th
    June 7th, MRU Assoc. Prof. Vytautas Dumbliauskas participated in a discussion on the "Žinių radijas" programme, "Events & Commentary" held to talk about President Dalia Grybauskaitė's annual report, presented today in the Seimas. Dumbliauskas is an Assoc. Prof. in MRU's Department of Political Sciences.
    MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Nevera Discusses Need for Assessors in Courts
    June 6th, MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Andrius Nevera was interviewed on the "Žinių radijas" radio programme's "Question of the Day" talk show. The topic was whether a referendum is necessary to introduce assessors in courts. The introduction of accessors, some say, would bring the courts closer to average every-day people. Nevera is an Assoc. Prof. in MRU's Dept. of Criminal Law and Criminology.
    MRU to Offer Bachelor's Degree in Philosophy Beginning this Fall
    June 6th, the online news website lrytas.lt writes that beginning this fall MRU will begin offering Bachelor's Degree studies in Philosophy. According to MRU's Philosophy Dept. Head Prof. Vytis Valatka, philosophy "is not a dry cabinet discipline for disengaged from reality bookworms. It's an independent area of science inspired by love of wisdom, teaching critical thinking...." prof. Valatka noted.
    Law Faculty Prof. Sinkevičius Headed Working Group Preparing Draft Law Reducing Parliament Bonuses & Amenities
    June 4th, the daily newspaper, "Respublika" interviewed MRU Law Faculty Prof. Vytautas Sinkevičius. He headed a working group that prepared a draft law that would regulate the vacation time of Seimas members and designate specific sums for gas and telephone calls. Sinkevičius is a former Constitutional Court judge and a professor of Constitutional Law at MRU.
    MRU Council Chairman Varkulevičius Discusses MRU's International Agreements & Membership in Intl Networks
    June 2nd, the daily newspaper, "Respublika" published an interview with MRU Council Chairman Rimantas Varkulevičius on council activities. There is mention of MRU international agreements that were signed in 2010 and University membership in international organizations and networks.
    MRU Academics Present New Bachelor's Degree Programmes at MRU
    June 2nd, the weekly independent newspaper Dialogas, dedicated to education issues, published an article about Mykolas Romeris University's new bachelor degree study programmes. The newspaper quotes MRU Social Work Dept. Head Prof. Valdonė Indrašienė and Humanities Institute Foreign Language Department Head Assoc. Prof. Jolita Šliogerienė.  
    MRU "Skalsa" Group Choreographer Dalė Maskoliūnienė Judged 1st "Unfound Talent Fest" - June 1st
    June 2nd, the online news website DELFI.lt published an article on the first "Unfound Talent Fest," which took place June 1st in Vilnius. There were 41 participants aged 4 - 27 years. MRU's choreographer Dalė Maskoliūnienė was 1 of 5 members of the judging committee. Maskoliūnienė heads MRU's Folk Dancing Group "Skalsa."
    MRU Law Faculty Assoc. Prof. Širinskienė Discussed Artificial Insemination - June 1st
    June 1st, MRU Law Faculty Biolaw Dept. Assoc. Prof. Agnė Širinskienė discussed artificial insemination on the "Žinių radijas" radio programme's "Question of the Day." The focus was on a draft law in parliament that would regulate artificial insemination. Širinskienė pointed out that according to the proposed draft, artificial insemination would be possible not only in extreme dire circumstances, but also in other cases, as there is no requirement to present proof of infertility.
