    Asian & European Univ Agree to Create Knowledge Consortium
    April 15th, representatives from 7 European and Asian Universities approved the creation of a new Knowledge Consortium: Social Technologies for Smart and Inclusive Society (SOCTECH) by e-signature. The event included the burying of a virtual capsule and the start of the building of a Social Technologies international mobile centre. Many dignitaries, Seimas parliament members and others attended the ceremony.

    NEW: "Informatics & Digital Contents" Joint Bachelor's Pgm with Korea's DSU
    April 15th,  the new Mykolas Romeris and Korea's Dongseo University (DSU) joint double diploma Bachelor's Degree programme, "Informatics and Digital Contents" was accredited for a 5-year period by the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC). MRU's Social Technologies Faculty's Institute of Digital Technologies prepared the new programme.

    "Skalsa" Dancers to Perform in Sanremo Folklore Fest April 25th-28th
    April 25th-28th, 2014, Mykolas Romeris University "Skalsa" folk dancers will perform in Italy's Sanremo Folklore Festival. The dance group has traveled and performed in numerous festivals and concert venues throughout Europe.

    April 14th, 2014, violinist Anar Seyidov performed at the annual "Sugrįžimai" musical festival on campus featuring young performers. He was accompanied by pianist Emilija Budžemaitė and Robertas Grod on violoncello.

    Students Sang Their Hearts Out, Performed at "Erasmus Got Talent" Show
    April 11th, 2014, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Erasmus students sang, danced and performed during the traditional "Erasmus Got Talent" show held on campus. This year the Talent Show host was Cristoforo Balzano, a U.S. law graduate who is pursuing a Master's Degree in European Legal Affairs. The show hostess was Agnė Nalivaikaitė.

    Praise from Brussels for MRU's Global Approach & Great Infrastructure
    April 11th, Anastassios Bougas, PhD, for many years with the European Commission's DG for Regional Policy, had nothing but praise for the infrastructure at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and the "global approach" with so many academics coming from abroad to teach. "I think it's very interesting," said the Greek, who has spent almost three decades living and working in Brussels.

    Polish Students at Scientific Thought Event Plan Erasmus Semester at MRU

    Guide Dog was Faithful Companion of U.S. Law Lecturer at MRU
    This month, (April 2014), U.S. lawyer David Roulston from Massachusetts will complete a series of lectures at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) and head back to the U.S. During his time at MRU, his most faithful companion was his 11-year-old guide dog, Shiloh, part Labrador and part Golden Retriever.

    SUCCESS: Theatre Director Dautartas Praises MRU Student Actors
    Marking Theatre Day March 27th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Theatre Director Julius Dautartas praised his student actors. They managed to put on a superb performance of the play, "Threshold of Life," based on Joshua Sobol's play, "Vilnius Ghetto." It was performed for the 7th time on March 22nd.

    Plagiarism Threat to Intl Research Serb Academic Tells Technologies Research Conf Participants
    March 19th, 2014, Serbian Prof. Pero Šipka from Belgrade told participants at the "Technologies Transforming Research Evaluation"conference that plagiarism "is a real threat to the international scientific community and small countries are victims."     Feb. 20th, MRU Law Lecturer attorney Diana Gumbrevičiūtė-Kuzminskienė (see photo) was awarded the "Human Rights Advocate of the Year" prize. The award was bestowed by the Equal Opportunities Ombudsmans' Office and the National Equality and Diversity Forum. Gumbrevičiūtė-Kuzminskienė is a lecturer in the Law Faculty's Dept. of Business Law.

    Azeri Students Laud MRU's Library During Meeting with the Rector
    Feb. 20th, students from Azerbaijan, studying at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU), praised the modern MRU Library and conditions for studies during their meeting with MRU Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis and Vice-Rector Prof. Inga Žalėnienė. Except for degree student Elmar Aliyev, all of the students attending the meeting were exchange students spending a semester at MRU.

    Students and Staff Packed Event "In Support of Ukraine" Feb. 20th
    Feb. 20th, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) students and staff turned out in force to light a candle and show support for Ukraine during that country's dark hours. After the "In Support of Ukraine" event, students and others traveled to the Ukraine Embassy in Vilnius to light candles there. Ukrainian students sang the Ukrainian anthem.

    Beginning Feb. 21st, 2014, Massachusetts lawyer David R. Roulston will begin a 10-week series of lectures, "Introduction to American Law." Roulston, who has been practicing law for 35 years, specializes in civil, criminal and mental health law. The first lecture will be held Friday, Feb. 21st, 13:00 hrs., in III-140 aud.

    Students Celebrated Independence Day Unfurling Huge Flag
    Feb. 14th, celebrating Lithuania's Independence Day, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) students pieced together a huge flag on campus from three pieces of material (yellow, green and red), which are the colours of Lithuania's flag. International MRU students also took part in the event including Marx-Davidson N. Ando from Cameroon and MRU Bachelor's Degree student Van Tran from Vietnam.

    Graduation Day at MRU's Law Faculty - Jan. 31st
    Jan. 31st, 2014, almost 470 graduates of the Law Faculty of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) were awarded diplomas, during two sessions, at MRU's campus. MRU Rector Prof. Alvydas Pumputis presided over the ceremony and handed out diplomas to graduates. Law Faculty Dean Prof. Rima Ažubalytė addressed graduates. Of the 1,472 students that were awarded diplomas the last week of January, only 7 students graduated with honours. All of them are Master's Degree programme graduates, with the exception of Bachelor's Degree Law student Arnas Trukšnys.

    Jan. 28th, 2014, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Master's Degree student Gintarė Gulevičiūtė will graduate with honours from the e-Business Management programme. She plans to enter the PhD programme in the fall at MRU. Specializing in e-Business and e-Government, she said Lithuania is making progress fast in this area. Citizens can access not only government institutions, read books online, but also conduct banking online.

    Bold Nigerian Student Appears in Blockbuster Lithuanian Movie "Redirected" by Emilis Vėlyvis
    January 7th, 2014, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) student Okeoghene Daniel Williams from Nigeria attended the premiere of the blockbuster Lithuanian comedy movie, "Redirected" in which he has a bit part playing a Nigerian seeking asylum in the European Union (EU). Williams, majoring in Economics, is due to graduate this month and said he hopes to land a job before pursuing Master's Degree studies.

    European Commission Renewed MRU's Diploma Supplement Label
    In December 2013, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) was informed that the Diploma Supplement (DS) Label was renewed attesting that a diploma supplement from MRU meets the European Commission's, the Council of Europe's and UNESCO/CEPES' requirements. The DS Label was first issued to MRU in 2010.

    Lecturers & Students Participated in Marathon in Vilnius Jan. 11th
    Jan. 11th, the Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) team participated in the XXIII traditional marathon, "Through the Path of Life and Death," held in Vilnius to commemorate the memory of those freedom fighters who gave their lives for Lithuania's independence. A total of 10 lecturers and students took part and ran the 9-km length from the Antakalnis cemetery to the Vilnius TV Tower. More than 4,200 runners took part.
